ONE CHRISTMAS EVE AT EVERGREEN MALL follows eight intertwined stories in a Midwestern mall on the last day of shopping before the holiday. A diverse cast of characters—from a lovesick mall Santa to an overeager mall cop, from a pair of brainy misfit teenagers to a pair of battling actors in a production of A Christmas Carol—navigate first meetings, second chances, and last-minute choices. ONE CHRISTMAS EVE wraps the joys and sorrows of the season into one festive package.

Today was our closing performance of "Rumors." This show was so much fun, and we had a blast sharing it with our audiences! We were delighted to take you on a journey with these couples in precarious positions, and we hope you enjoyed the ride as well. First, a big thank you to all of our cast members - while this cast had many new faces, it also had a few familiar ones, as well as some making a triumphant return, and we loved having each and every one of them! A big thank you to our artistic director, Kevin Colbert, who put together this cast and crew of talented individuals to bring the laughs to the barn every night! Thanks to Brandy Hall for her impeccable work on the props, and to Kathryn Cover for her assistance with the costumes—both of which really set the scene for the high-society night of confusion. Thanks to Kelsey Carritt and Andy Robichaux, who stage managed the production, and shout out to Aaron Spracklin for his wonderful lighting design and Nick Haussler for his sound design. Thank you to our scenic designer, Adam Whittredge, and our Scenic artist, Linda Dabbs, who really made this mansion look the part. Thank you, of course, to our front-of-house staff and volunteers. And finally, thank you to each and every person who came out to see this show! There is no performance without an audience, and we couldn't be more grateful to have your support. We hope these antics and silly scenarios made you smile and left you wanting more.

Kelsey is a newcomer to the Lofte Theatre. This show represents her first step back into theatre production since graduating high school in 2018, and her first role on stage since elementary. Kelsey has previously provided behind-the-scenes support on shows such as Godspell, The Great Gatsby, and Urinetown. Going forward, she hopes to expand her repertoire both behind the stage and on it to include everything from acting to writing and directing. Kelsey lives in Council Bluffs and loves metal music, coffee, board games, and stories. "Thank you to my Mom, my Dad, my brother, and David Tennant for enabling my thespian delusions. Much love."

Victoria is a voice actor who moved to Nebraska in 2024. Last year, she performed in the world premiere of The China Shop at Lincoln Community Playhouse as Mary. Before her move, she performed in both community and professional settings throughout the St Louis area. Favorite projects include performing as Black Stache in 'Peter and the Starcatcher' and portraying Frau Perchta, the Christmas Witch of the Alps, at St Charles Christmas Traditions festival. Zeke has been part of the Lofte family since childhood, first appearing on stage with Missoula Children’s Theatre. Though it’s been eight years since his last Lofte performance (you may remember him as Prince Herbert in Spamalot! – 2017), he is delighted to return to what he fondly calls his “home away from home.” In recent years, Zeke has been living in the Czech Republic, where he has performed professionally with the Mad & Merry Men Theatre Company and appeared in film and television, including a cameo in the upcoming Amazon series Ride or Die starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham. He is thrilled to be back on the Lofte stage and sends heartfelt thanks to the cast, crew, and audience for welcoming him home again—and to his fiancé, Jakub, for his endless love and encouragement.

Phyllis is thrilled to be part of the Rumors cast and in her first production at the Lofte Community Theater. She has been performing locally in numerous musicals/plays over the years, including recent roles as an ensemble member in the musical Curtains at Chanticleer Theater and George Bailey’s mom in It’s a Wonderful Life at Bellevue Little Theater. Some of Phyllis’ most memorable performances include the role of Mrs. Greene in the OEAA awarded best musical The Prom and the role of Ida in The Cemetery Club. A native of Massachusetts, she first caught the acting bug when she was cast as “Agent 99” in her high school production Get Smart. Phyllis is a retired National Park Ranger who loves to travel internationally as well as spend time with her creatures, friends, and family.

Having performed at a number of area theaters over the past many years, in roles large and small, Stan is very happy to be appearing in his fourth production at The Lofte. He was most recently seen in Our Town earlier this season playing the role of Charles Webb. Rumors is not the first time Stan has played a physician; one of his favorite roles was Dr. Jim Bayliss in All My Sons at the Chanticleer Theater. Stan would also like to note that growing up he knew people who resemble the characters in Rumors but wants to assure you that he himself is not like them at all! Really. Finally, Stan knows that he wouldn’t be anywhere without the love and support of his wife Joan, their children, his friends and fellow cast members, crew and of course Director Kevin Colbert.

Neal has enjoyed himself immensely since becoming a “Born-in-a-Barn Player” of the Lofte. He has been featured in some fun Lofte productions such as Moon Over Buffalo, Harvey, Noises Off, Sunshine Express, Legally Blonde as well as the Our Town production presented earlier this season. He has performed in other theaters in the Omaha area for the last several years. Neal started his theatrical adventures many years ago while living in Texas, specializing in Musical and Comedy Theater, directing a few plays, and touring “quietly” with a couple of Mime Troupes. Neal has lived in Gretna, NE for 30 years and is very proud to be a father of three wonderful children, their spouses, a precious grandson, and, “Yehaw!” another grandson on the way. Neal truly appreciates the support of the Lofte Community, his family, and many friends!

Mason has been involved with several local theatres. Notable productions include Predictor with Angels Theatre Company and Gross Indecency at Lincoln Community Playhouse. Rosalie lives in Lincoln with her husband Walt. This is her eighth production at The Lofte, the most recent being Dickens’ Christmas Carol (Cordelia). Other recent productions she has appeared in include Veronica’s Room (The Woman) at Beatrice Community Players and Over the River and Through the Woods (Emma) at Lincoln Community Playhouse. Rosalie and Walt enjoy spending time with their three sons and their wives, and their five grandchildren. She also puts in some time helping Walt at his practice, Alivation Health. Charley’s self-inflicted bullet injury sets off a series of events, causing his guests to scramble to get “the story” straight before the authorities arrive. To save their inn and theater, a couple pretends that it is haunted to draw in crowds. A ghost whisperer holds a seance, and an actual ghost appears! We want to take a moment to remind our followers of safe ticket-buying best practices. It has been brought to our attention that sites are reselling not only our tickets, but also tickets for many small and local community theatres. When buying tickets for a show at the Lofte, such as our upcoming production of Rumors, consider the following:
🎟When in doubt, always start at lofte.org - that is our official website. Tickets for Rumors are sold through our ticketing partner for this season, Etix. From our website, we will safely direct you to the Etix website to purchase official tickets. No extra fees, no weird delivery options.
🎟If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to call our box office at 402-234-2553. If no one is available to take your call, please leave us a message with your name, phone number, and the reason for your message. Someone will call you back as soon as we can!
🎟Avoid any websites that call themselves an "official" or "certified" reseller. They may sell you tickets, and they will likely be valid, but it's even more likely that there will be additional fees that we have no control over. Additionally, if something goes wrong and you need to exchange it for another performance, we may not be able to assist you, as we likely won't have your information on file.
🎟As a best practice, never purchase from someone you don't know who claims to have tickets to resell on social media. Occasionally, these resellers will even post on our posts. We do our best to remove them as quickly as we can, as we do not allow ticket reselling on our social media pages. If you have any issues with your tickets, you can sell or give them to a friend. However, if you need assistance, you can always call our box office, and we'll be more than happy to help.

Averi Hogue is a freshman at Midland University this fall, where she is working towards her Bachelor's in Secondary English Education with a Theater Endorsement. She plans to pursue a career as a high school English teacher and theater program director. Hogue has been involved in performance since age 7; her experiences include DanceIt, Missoula Children's Theatre, Elmwood Murdock Play Production/Speech, All-State Musical, and, best of all, the Lofte Community Theatre. Her mother, Keri Hogue, the head director of Elmwood Murdock's State Champion Play Production and Speech teams, is her inspiration and biggest mentor. Averi wants to thank you for supporting community theater and its members. This scholarship wouldn't be available to students like her each year without your help, so thank you. "Theater changes lives; mine and yours. Thank you again."

Hailey Caughron is the daughter of Brian and Angie Caughron. She is a 2025 graduate of Louisville Highschool and is attending Nebraska Wesleyan University to major in Musical Theatre and Theatre Education. While in high school, Hailey participated in one act, speech, dance team, journalism, student council, and National Honor Society. Hailey has been a 3x state champion, a 2x state journalism champion, a state speech OID champion, a national qualifier for speech, and has studied vocal music and dance from an early age. She was an honor roll student all 4 years of high school, graduating with a 4.0 GPA, and has won best actress for her works in one act. At the Lofte, Hailey has performed in Beauty and the Beast and Something Rotten! She also works as a toddler and preschool teacher just down the road at Dayspring Academy Daycare and feels so grateful to be able to impact and help mold the lives and minds of children. Hailey feels so lucky for everything that LHS and the Lofte have taught her and she's never been prouder to be "born in a barn."

One week ago was the closing performance of our production of "The Last Mass at St. Casimir's." This truly stellar production was thanks in large part to every single person who had a hand in working on it. This was one show where there were no small contributions. First, a very big thank you to our cast, Amanda, Nick, Matt, Joshua, and Cheryl, who made up the members of the Pazinski family, each with their own neurosis, coping mechanisms, and flaws, and all portrayed beautifully. And a special shout-out to Brandy Hall, who not only was the stage manager for the production, but also created and coordinated all of the properties and even stepped into the role of Annie for the opening weekend - the show must go on! And this cast and crew made sure of it.
A big thank you to our artistic director, Kevin Colbert, who continues to coordinate just about everything behind the scenes of the show, whether working with the actors to develop characters and their movements and mannerisms, helping the tech team develop their vision for the production, or making some of the tough calls, he continues to steer us in positive and inspirational directions. Thank you to Kathryn Cover for her assistance with the costumes, Aaron Spracklin, who designed the lights, Mason Peterson, who ran the light board, Nick Haussler for designing and running sound mixing every night, Adam Whittredge for designing the set and being our Tech Director, and to Linda Dabbs, our scenic artist, for bringing the set and the art on it to life! Big thanks to our front-of-house staff and volunteers who made sure that people were able to see the show every night. And finally, thank you to our audience - you all make the show worth doing, and make the story worth telling.
We could continue listing every single person who worked on this show and still not give true credit where it is due, but we do appreciate the hard work from everyone who chipped in to bring this amazing production to our stage. We hope the story of the Pazinski family is one you won't soon forget. Always remember to listen to those you love, and take care of one another, but don't be afraid to laugh together!
